You can get the Debian packages of gtranslator now also again by your official Debian unstable distribution - simply do
apt-get install gtranslator

gtranslator is now also official a party of the coming Mandrake 9.2 distro (thanks to Abel Cheung <deaddog@deaddog.org>!) and is also integrated into ALT Linux (http://www.altlinux.ru, thanks to Vyacheslav Dikonov <sdiconov@mail.ru>) as an official package!
