Now we have got activated the donation system on sourceforge.net for us - you can now donate us money via donation page of sourceforge.net for gtranslator. 10% of the donation amount will be forwarded to the Gnome Foundation, the rest will be used to obtain back the www.gtranslator.org domain which we've lost end of January. If we will receive greater amounts of money, then we will use it for gtranslator development.

Donate to the gtranslator development!

All points of  the donation process will be told and talked about in the gtranslator-devel mailing list.

Besides this I did also correct some EMail adresses here on the page. If there are still errors, please do mail me them.

Finally, the situation about our old home domain www.gtranslator.org is solved now - due to problems with NSI and Strato (my German domain hoster) the domain is lost for now. For the future the whole gtranslator.org site has been moved to http://gtranslator.sourceforge.net. This is our new homepage now and all future stuff will be hosted here on sourceforge.net.

So you've got a new adress for your bookmarks now. Newer download possibilities and links will follow later on...

Unfortunately with the domain also the @gtranslator.org mail adresses are now history, all mails are now directed to @kabalak.net. For questions and inquiries about this, please simply mail to me (Fatih).

gtranslator is now back again to the official Debian unstable distro! So you don't need to add a gtranslator.sourceforge.net source to your apt sources.list and can just now use the official mirrors of your choice for installing an up to date gtranslator package for Debian :-) My own Debian snapshots will be ceased by now and the http://gtranslator.sourceforge.net/debian/ download location is also disabled now.
Fatih Demir, <kabalakREMOVETHIS@gtranslator.sourceforge.net>

Added Tamil learn buffer by Dinesh Nadarajah, thanks very much to hin! :-) Also, we have got a new Debian maintainer to put official Debian snapshots up to Debian unstable, so that my CVS snapshots will be not any longer available through apt-get but for direct download (not to mess up apt-get). Besides this I have got a small change for the learn buffer packages as described on the gtranslator-devel mailing list - the first umtf learn buffer package for Turkish is already available on the learn buffers (UMTF) section. For now these packages are just tarballs in a defined structure, which you can unpack via tar -xvzf PACKAGE.
Fatih Demir, <kabalakREMOVETHIS@gtranslator.sourceforge.net>

Corrected tarball download link in our "local" download page and the Belorussian + Russian learn buffers were updated, too.

Updated the downloads section with many, many thanks and download possibilities and also uploaded a bunch of new files (learn buffers, RPM packages to our sourceforge.net download area. New learn buffers are now available there for Belorussian and Russian. gtranslator is also getting NetBSD, Mandrake 9.2/9.1, SuSE 8.2 packages/ports/collections now!

An overview of the changes can be obtained here :-) It's a very long list so you should really try out the new release and get a good piece of software :-)

Fatih Demir, <kabalakREMOVETHIS@gtranslator.sourceforge.net>

Many changes in CVS in the last 1-2 days and almost 10 bugs closed and code reviewed, some very old feature requests and some HIG bugs were also solved :-) It's quite good now and I would strongly recommend to test the current CVS edition or the CVS debian snapshots or the new tarball on our sf.net download base.
Fatih Demir, <kabalakREMOVETHIS@gtranslator.sourceforge.net>

Date: 2003-08-26
New CVS snapshots for Debian out and a new tarball has been put on our sf.net download site - many bugs have been solved, some smaller problems are solved and the charset converting code is now also reactivated.. Many changes which are waiting to be beta-tested by you :-)

New CVS snapshots for Debian are out now and available through our new apt-get mechanism! Simply enter the following line into your /etc/apt/sources.list: "deb http://gtranslator.sourceforge.net/debian/ ./" Then you need to do an "apt-get update" and you can then install gtranslaotr in the newest version via entering "apt-get install gtranslator" and you're done :-) You can also get the newest snapshot from our packages base on http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=666
Fatih Demir, <kabalakREMOVETHIS@gtranslator.sourceforge.net>

Date: 2003-07-04
Some progress in CVS and a new Debian CVS snapshot package available on http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=666 - you can also get the Debian CVS snapshot deb of the coming R 1.0 directly via http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gtranslator/gtranslator_1.0.20030704-1_i386.deb?download. Have fun with it....

I did also deactivate our RSS news feed on gtranslator.sourceforge.net which was available per http://gtranslator.sourceforge.net/news.rss previously; I don't think many people used this feature and more concentrating on the news section here could also be something nice to do I guess :-) More updates on the webpage are also done now and the facts are a bit more accurate now...
Fatih Demir, <kabalakREMOVETHIS@gtranslator.sourceforge.net>

Date: 2003-06-26
Made new CVS snapshot Debian package aaaand a CVS sources tarball for the normal sources' trying wanta persons among us ;-) You can find the files as like always on our sourceforge.net files' depot under http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=666. It's a very good place to look for your files and new stuff around gtranslator for downloading :-) Only the main facts and files are held here locally on gtranslator.sourceforge.net
Fatih Demir, <kabalakREMOVETHIS@gtranslator.sourceforge.net>

Date: 2003-06-18
Updated the download page with a link to the RPM Pbone search mechanism as pointed out by Grzegorz Paszka <Grzegorz _at_ Paszka.com> and removed some oddness from the dependencies page. Maybe you can also download a new CVS snapshot for Debian today if there are enough changes for this :-)
Fatih Demir, <kabalakREMOVETHIS@gtranslator.sourceforge.net>

Date: 2003-06-18
Corrected a typo on the page as pointed to by Görkem etin ;-) Now I do make almost daily Debian CVS snapshots with the current changes from the CVS repo so that you can follow the currently active done development quite fair and get an impression of how gtranslator is getting further - there were some important things fixed since the R 0.99 so that you should try the CVS code as a CVS-aware user and/or try as a Debian user the CVS snapshots on http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=666.

It's the first GNOME 2.x platform release and is quite working and doesn't feature any major bugs yet but you can find them via trying it out now :-) Simply walk over to the download section on here or the mirroring page on sourceforge.net where you can also get all releases of gtranslator.
Fatih Demir, <kabalakREMOVETHIS@gtranslator.sourceforge.net>

gtranslator development has been restarted by Ross Golder! Hurray! ;-) He will try to get gtranslator walking on the GNOME 2 front and keep everything up and good, like you was used to it in the old GNOME 1.x days but much more useful, faster and without the heavy "kabalak-factor" ;-) Keep up with the bugs Ross! :-)
Fatih Demir, <kabalakREMOVETHIS@gtranslator.sourceforge.net>

Development on gtranslator has been stopped, the project is now officially dead! I (Fatih Demir) have stopped to have any further development plannings for gtranslator and am declaring the project for dead; it won't be developed anymore. If you have got interest in looking at the code basis, use the GNOME CVS overview via GNOME CVS under the module "gtranslator" - it contains some really interesting things which maybe also help you in developing your own applications.
Some more really meant words about the project stopping, you can read the following file directly via CVS: http://cvs.gnome.org/lxr/source/gtranslator/PROJECT.STATUS-DEAD
